Bursaries and Awards

Each year, your association distributes $6500 in Bursaries and Awards. Changes were made recently to the forms, so if you have downloaded older forms (pre-January 2012) please download the latest version to avoid disappointment.We encourage you and your students to read over the following list. The application forms are in PDF format.

Deadlines

Please note that the deadline for receipt of applications has changed to March 15th each year, except for the Student Activity Grant which accepts submissions throughout the year.

Student Bursary
This bursary consists of five awards of $500 each, and is available to a graduating student who is or who has been enrolled in an alternate program, and who is continuing their education or training at a post-secondary institution.

Student Achievement Award
Consisting of fifteen awards of $100 each, it is available to a student who is demonstrating responsibility for behaviour, a significant level of self-motivation, improved self-esteem and self-confidence, and mastery skills.

Kathi Hughes Innovative Programming Award
This award of $500 is available to a teacher who is willing to share a unique aspect of his or her program at the annual BCAEA conference.

Grants

Student Activity Grant
This grant consists of four awards totalling a maximum of $2000, and is available for an activity for the benefit of at-risk students who are receiving alternative programming.

Regional Conference Grant
A single grant of $500 is available to help offset the costs of holding a regional conference, one of whose aims is to promote membership in the BCAEA. Full particulars are on the Regional Grant Application form, which is available as a PDF file.
