This conference is co-sponsored by the BC Cooperative Learning  PSA and SRCLE –  a lower mainland group supporting social responsibility, social and emotional learning and social justice in education.  This year’s theme is “all about engagement” focusing on practical skills and strategies for increasing student and staff engagement in learning. 

Keynote - Dr. Spencer Kagan

Dr. Spencer  Kagan's keynote session will explore relationships, structures for engagement, cooperative learning, current brain research and the connections to social and emotional learning.  Afterwards, Dr. Kagan will be offering breakout sessions for educators of adolescents.

 Workshops and Networking Support Available. The BCCLA offers several workshops we will bring to you. We would be happy to join you in your district to present workshops for all levels of interest in Cooperative Learning including: "Intro to Cooperative Learning and Overview of the 5 Elements", "What Next?", "What to do with the student who won't participate.", "Basic Structures."  Release Time Available! Are you interested in learning a new structure? Would you like the time to work with a colleague to plan or observe a cooperative structure? To help facilitate cooperative learning in your classroom and your school, we would like to provide release time. What you'll need to do is :

1.      Find a partner or small group of interested teachers (up to 8)

2.     Meet together to agree on a plan

3.Submit your plan of action to the BCCLA c/o Kim Cline: rkcline@telus.net

4.     Choose an afternoon release day to put your plan into action

5.     What's the catch? You agree to write up your experience and give up your ideas to share in our next newsletter.
