A Public School opportunity for Canadian Youth...The Leadership Ecology Adventure Program (LEAP) provides kids with a hands-on summer outdoor immersion. LEAP participants experience a sampling of outdoor activities while developing their leadership skills and gaining knowledge of both environmental issues and local ecology. LEAP is a dynamic and experiential program that focuses on both the hard and soft skills associated with living well and being in the outdoors. During the 8 day residential program, students will have countless opportunities to positively interact with each other while creating memories to last a lifetime. Who can apply to take the LEAP?Students age 14-17 can apply for LEAP! LEAP is a Powell River School District sponsored program. While it is based in British Columbia, students of all nationalities can apply. When is LEAP?LEAP A: July 3-10 Endorsements:"The Sustainability and Ecological Education Programs in School District 47 help to fill a huge void in modern society: the void between what's
taught in the classroom and the day-to-day miracles happening outside. I can think of no better way to close this gap than to get kids into wild areas
where Nature does the teaching, affecting students in ways that stick with them for the rest of their lives." "The intrinsic worth of the LEAP program is self evident; it is ecologically oriented, experiential, sustainable and progressive, making education
fun and relevant when it is so often the opposite for many students. But what is so often missed is that programs such as this one show public education
in general how it must continue to dynamically respond to changing social conditions. As such, this program serves the broader needs of public
education." Please click here to print an application » Contact Info:Ryan Barfoot |
