Full-day Kindergarten Implementation Questionnaire

If your school is implementing full-day Kindergarten (FDK) in September, please answer the following questions.

Responses will be used by BCTF staff for data collection purposes. Individual responses will remain confidential. Reports arising from the data will be given to the Executive Committee of the BCTF.

Note: All fields are required.

Local:  

1. Has your school  had FDK previously?
 
2a. Is your district closing any previously existing FDK classes?
 
2b. If so, were these classes primarily for Aboriginal and First Nations children?
 
3a. Are the current FDK teachers hired through  targeted funding for Aboriginal students?
 
3b. Will next year's FDK teachers be hired through targeted funding for Aboriginal students?
 
4. Does your school have a Strong Start program?
 
5. Are the children tested for learning readiness skills before they enter K?
 
6. Does your school have pre and after school care for Kindergarten children?
 
7. Has your school been chosen as a site for FDK because it enrols vulnerable students?
 
8. Is there currently an appropriate space in your school for the FDK class?
 
9. Did any other program in your school have to give up space to accommodate the FDK class?
 
10. Are there enough learning resources for the FDK class?
 
11. Are other programs losing resources in order to support FDK?
 
12a. Is the FDK class combined with other grades?
 
12b. If so, which grade(s)?
 
13. Has the teacher been selected to teach FDK?
 
14. Is this teacher moving from a .5 assignment?
 
15. Is your district following your post and fill processes outlined in the collective agreement?
 
16. Are you aware of the Ministry of Education’s guidelines for FDK programs? 
 
17. Does the FDK program in your school include culturally appropriate learning resources for First Nations children?
 
18. Will the new FDK program have learning specialist support?
 
19. Other concerns you wish to relay about the implementation of FDK.
