Pro-D Committee
Professional development is a process of continuous growth through involvement in programs, services, and
activities designed to enable teachers, individually and collectively, to learn and grow professionally in order to
enhance teaching and learning.
The professional development committee has three main roles.
Administrative: disbursing funds as per ADTA policy, establishing funding priorities, and ensuring all members have access to pro-d funds.
Political: protecting the 5 professional development days that have been negotiated for Abbotsford teachers, as part of our collective agreement.
Supportive: facilitating and sponsoring pro-d planning, supporting school-based and self-directed pro-d, regular communication with school pro-d reps.
