About Michelle Gracia Winner

Michelle Garcia Winner is an award winning speech-language pathologist who specializes in treating students who are experiencing social and communication challenges. Her Social Thinking approach has assisted people with diagnosis of high-functioning autism, Asperger syndrome, ADHD, and even those who have no diagnosis. She runs a clinic, has authored numerous books on Social Thinking and speaks internationally. She serves on the panel of professional advisers of the Autism Society of America. Michelle's goal is to help educators and parents appreciate how crucial developing Social Thinking and related social skills is to a student's success and growth throughout life.

SEA is a provincial specialist association of the British Columbia Teachers' Federation. The goal of SEA is to promote awareness, acceptance, and personal excellence for students with special needs through communications with members in the educational field and in the community.

SEA deals with topics of particular interest to our members and to all teachers in the field of special education. Information is communicated in a variety of ways:

  • SEA magazine, Crosscurrents
  • Annual Crosscurrents conference
  • Meetings of local chapters
  • SEA Executive Committee activities
  • Liaison with other PSAs, the BCTF, and government ministries
