Detailed language to be tabled April 23The BCTF and BCSPEA met for our fifth negotiating session today. BCPSEA wished to spend a substantial amount of time on our plan for local bargaining. However, the BCTF team focussed on provincial bargaining issues, as it is these concerns that reflect the needs of teachers on a province-wide basis.
We agreed to negotiate on April 23, May 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, and 17, 2001. The BCTF team advised BCPSEA that we would begin to present language on provincial issues on April 23. We intend to table issues from the following list:
- student/parental complaints
- housing
- provincial sick leave portability
- seniority hiring/filling
- Aboriginal education
- assignment changes
The second batch of language on issues such as salary, class size, and integration will be in locals this week. Locals will have time to review the language and are then asked to send their feedback to the bargaining team. |
