On December 9 and 10, you will be asked to vote on the following question:
“Do you agree with the 2008 AGM decision that unless the Ministry of Education changes to a random sampling with neither schools nor students identified, teachers exercise their professional autonomy and not prepare for, administer, or mark the provincial FSAs?”
Members have been attending meetings in schools and locals to express their frustration with the provincial government’s insistence that these tests continue in their present form and that the results made available for the ranking of schools.
This threat to the well-being of students, schools, and teachers cannot continue, and members are being asked to send a clear message to government that we will not be party to this harmful policy.
Check when and where to vote in your local and take the time to do so.
