Teachers of BC have voted to stand together—87 % in favour of escalating the job action to full withdrawal of services. This is not an action teachers take lightly, yet we see the profession under attack and conditions steadily declining in our schools.
No one relishes walking out; but from time to time this is a tool we have to use. Government has options. They can reconsider the legislation, agree to LRB mediation and give their bargaining team a mandate that will result in a fair and reasonable deal.
Monday morning, teachers across BC begin our full withdrawal of services. Together, we can make a difference. Our history shows us that teachers have always found the strength and courage to stand together to make change.
We know that staff reps are key to the success of the union. Thank you for all the work you have been doing. Your local and your Federation will be regularly communicating with you throughout this time to support you in this crucial role.
