First, students look at the bow and compare the force required to pull back the bow string a certain distance. Students determine the linear relationship between force applied and draw distance using Hooke’s Law, will record data in a table, graph the relationship, determine the spring constant for the bow they are using, and answer one step algebra equations using Hooke’s Law. Then students are provided with the opportunity to see the connection between non-Aboriginal math and science concepts and the traditional management of Aboriginal territories.
