The position of Provincial Returning Officer will be vacant as of July 1, 2022. Therefore, the BCTF Executive Committee is seeking a member to serve in this capacity to conduct provincial votes.
The member who undertakes this work will need to be available to work with the designated staff person in co-ordinating any votes, according to BCTF Procedure 44.14 (page 145, Members’ Guide to the BCTF), and the Labour Relations Regulation 7/93. The role of the returning officer is very specific, however, when required and on an as needed basis, the member would need to take a leave of absence from other duties for several days in order to undertake this work.
The returning officer will be responsible for:
- approving the manner in which the vote will be conducted in the local (Procedure 44.14 2.d) and the regulation.
- co-ordinating the provincial count of the vote(s).
- reporting on the results of the vote to the BCTF President and Executive Committee.
Deadline: Friday, June 10, 2022 at 5:00 p.m.
