Challenge & Change Conference
The 2012 conference (our Silver Anniversary!) has come to a close, and all of the nearly 500 of you who attended have returned to your classrooms, no doubt each taking something away from the conference to try with their students. Karen Gadowsky, our Speaker coordinator put together a great lineup of sessions, culminating with Gabor Maté as our keynote speaker! His topic, The Hungry Ghost: A Biospsychosocial Perspective on Addiction, from Heroin to Workaholism got everyone who heard him thinking. We look forward to ahving him back again soon.
The 2012 conference was the last one held in January. As you can see below, we will move the 2013 conference date to February 14th and 15th to better align with a day when many folks have Pro-D in their district.
Conference Date Poll Results
We recently put a poll out on the listserv to see if there was an appetite for changing the date of our conference to the third Thursday/Friday of February, to better align with the district Pro-D date chosen by at least 25 districts. This was done in response to the prohibitive costs many members face when having to have two TOC days on top of the rest of the conference costs. The response was overwhelmingly in favour (25 to 1) of the move. Conference and speaker logistics being what they are, we couldn't make the change right away, but mark your calendars, for in 2013, our conference will move from its current date to February 14 & 15, and to February 20 & 21 in 2014. We look forward to seeing you there!
