While the FSA tests are over for the year, the field testing of next year’s test will soon be under way and we need to remind teachers that the BCTF discourages any involvement with any aspect of the FSA. In our judgment, the FSAs are inappropriate for assessing individual students or individual schools, and take valuable time away from teaching and learning.
The FSA is field tested every year and in at least one school we know of, Grade 4 and Grade 7 teachers have been asked to pilot test the FSAs for next year between April 21–25. The ministry has sent a letter to the school, so we assume this will be happening in other locations as well.
