The BCTF is reminding teachers (including TTOCs and retired teachers) NOT to volunteer to mark FSA tests regardless of any offer of remuneration.
The recent order from the Labour Relations Board regarding administration of the FSA did not include marking and the BCTF has advised members for a number of years not to mark.
The FSA tests do not help teachers teach or students learn and take valuable time and resources away from teaching and learning. The results are misused by the Fraser Institute to rank schools and their overemphasis narrows the curriculum and reduces the opportunities for students to engage in meaningful learning experiences.
Remember, marking the FSAs is not our work. Contact your local president if any problems arise.
