Call for Participants

On June 5–6, 2024, the BCTF will hold a Think Tank on Meaningful Inclusion for Students with Disabilities and Diverse Needs. The Think Tank aims to develop a deeper understanding of the possibilities for and challenges to inclusive education in BC. In doing so, it will contribute to ongoing advocacy for the inclusion of all students in a fully funded universal public education system. Over the course of the Think Tank, participants will:

  1. Have an opportunity to explore the what is needed to fully include all students in their age-appropriate classroom
  2. Engage key themes and identify shared opportunities and challenges among teachers and parent groups
  3. Build connections and partnerships to advocate for educational conditions that support the needs of all learners in BC.

The Think Tank is divided into two days. On day 1 (June 5), BCTF members will be provided the time and space to have conversations with colleagues. Day 2 (June 6) will bring BCTF members together with representatives from parent groups and other education partners.

All active BCTF members are eligible to apply and the BCTF will cover all costs related to participation, including release time and travel. The Full-Time Table Officers (FTTOs) will select eight members to participate. Successful applicants will be expected to review a package of background information prior to the Think Tank and attend both days of the event.

To apply, please fill out an application here by May 5, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. If you have questions, please email researchassistants@bctf.ca.
