Four vacancies are to be filled by election at the Spring Representative Assembly (RA)—at least one member who identifies as a man and at least two members who identify as women or gender diverse, and, additionally, at least one member who identifies as Black, Indigenous, or a person of colour, for one-year terms.

Role

The RA ombudspersons will work together to provide an important service at the BCTF RAs. They will serve as a resource to help in the resolution of any member-to-member complaints during the meeting and assist any members who may feel they have been harassed at the meeting. The RA ombudspersons provide service to members in a discrete manner, respecting the confidentiality of all participants.

Those selected for this role will have access to orientation and staff support, however the criteria for the position requires that the individuals appointed have current or past experience in the BCTF Internal Mediation Service or other relevant experience in conflict resolution. The elected members will attend all RAs during their term and may not be delegates to the meeting or hold any other formal roles at the RA.

  • November 13–14, 2026—Victoria
  • February 5–6, 2027—Richmond
  • May 28–29, 2027—to be confirmed.

Attendance at all three RAs is expected.
