Project
Literacy skills are foundational to student development. The Ministry of Education and Child Care is committed to strengthening literacy development throughout the K–12 education system and ensuring that early literacy instruction and interventions are aligned with leading evidence-based practices.
The Ministry is assembling one English language and one French language team of educators and specialists to work on the creation of K–4 Literacy Classroom Intervention resources and supporting materials. The primary objective will be to enhance foundational literacy education across BC and continue to improve literacy outcomes. Each team will develop an intervention guide and other supporting materials to help teachers apply evidence-based classroom intervention strategies in relation to reading, writing and oral language development.
To facilitate this work, the Ministry is seeking team members with interest and experience in classroom-based literacy intervention, who are interested in developing intervention support materials that will provide teachers with strategies to help with classroom intervention following multi-tired system of supports (MTSS) or other commonly used intervention support frameworks. Participants may be asked to record videos, present materials via webinars and/or showcase working with students via video, and to collect samples of student work to help illustrate student proficiency.
