The BC Teachers’ Federation (BCTF) is seeking a total of six to eight members with current experience teaching the K–4 Français langue première curriculum to participate as BCTF representatives on Français langue première Learning Progressions as part of BC Learning Pathways.
Project
Following the development of the K–4 Learning Progressions for Français langue seconde, BC Learning Pathways is now assembling a K–4 Development Team of teachers to work on Français langue première Learning Progressions.
The primary objective will be the development of descriptors of proficiency related to reading, writing, and oral language aligned with the Français langue première curriculum. Potential development of a variety of supporting resources such as Teaching and Learning Stories, Webinars and Quick Guides will be considered to support teachers in developing students’ foundational skills of reading, writing and oral language. To facilitate this work, the Ministry is looking for K–4 francophone teachers with interest and experience in literacy, and who are interested in further developing the BC Learning Pathways materials in alignment with the Français langue première curriculum.
BC Learning Pathways is an ongoing series of resources that support teachers in developing students’ literacy and numeracy skills and critical thinking and communication competencies, both in Language Arts and Mathematics and through cross-curricular approaches from K-12. Information about the Learning Pathways can be found on the BC Curriculum website: https://curriculum.gov.bc.ca/learning-pathways
The Ministry has indicated that the team would benefit from professionals with any of the following experience and expertise:
- teachers in Northern or Interior regions
- inclusive education teachers
- Indigenous-identifying teachers or teachers who have worked closely with Indigenous students.
Time and commitment
Selected applicants will be appointed from August 1, 2026 to August 30, 2028. They are expected to be available in August 2026, for three full days of in-person meetings at the Ministry offices in Victoria. Specific dates will be determined in collaboration with selected teachers to ensure availability during summer vacation schedules. The development teams will also meet virtually as needed from September 2026 to August 2028, usually outside of teaching hours with occasional work during school hours.
Remuneration
Participating educators will receive $325 for each seven hours of work done outside of district-contracted hours. The Ministry will provide Leave of Absence letters for meetings held during district-contracted hours and school districts will be reimbursed for TTOC costs. Travel, accommodation, and meal costs will be reimbursed according to BC Government rates and guidelines. The Ministry requests that educators provide a non-school district email address to ensure emails are received during summer months.
