To be used as a multi-week final project (instead of or in addition to a final exam). Students prepare a proposal (~1 week); teacher provides equipment and chemicals (~1 day to 1 week, for ordering); then student conducts their own research (~1-2 days) and prepares a final lab report (~1 week).
