About This Resource

These lessons are designed in relation to the effects of the McDougall Creek Fire (2023), which impacted our school, community, and neighboring Rose Valley Regional Park and pond. The lessons center on our school's use of the regional park as a land-based learning site, in combination with Syilx-Okanagan traditional knowledge. The lessons reflect a recent partnership with the Regional District of the Central Okanagan (RDCO) to plant Ponderosa Pine saplings, supporting forest reforestation efforts in Spring 2026. You can adapt any of the lessons or learning to suit your localized land spaces and context.
