About This Resource

Students will learn about Hogan’s Alley, a lively neighbourhood in Vancouver’s Strathcona area that was mainly made up of Black residents and other diverse groups. This community thrived from the early 1900s until 1970. The lesson will talk about how government plans to improve the city caused people to have to leave their homes so construction could start on the Georgia and Dunsmuir Viaducts.
