Advisory committees play a vital role in the life of our union. Whether discussing health and safety, social justice, Aboriginal education, finance, or other important areas of union work, committee members’ thoughtful perspectives and practical experience help ensure that member voices are reflected in the decisions and initiatives that shape our union.
Over the past year, advisory committees have provided important feedback, generated innovative ideas, and helped guide the work of the Executive Committee. Their contributions have strengthened advocacy efforts, informed programs and services, and helped the Federation respond effectively to the evolving needs of members.
Workshop facilitators and other volunteer term positions such as Peer Support, Internal Mediation Service, and Judicial Council also strengthen the union through a commitment to supporting colleagues. Members volunteering in these roles help foster a culture of collaboration and care within the union, all while balancing the demands of their professional and personal lives. Their willingness to volunteer demonstrates a deep commitment to both the teaching profession and their colleagues.
As we reflect on the accomplishments of the past year, we want to extend our sincere gratitude to every member who volunteered with the union. Your dedication, thoughtful contributions, and collaborative spirit make our union stronger. The work you do behind the scenes often goes unseen, but its impact is felt throughout our organization and across our membership.
Thank you for sharing your time, your expertise, and your passion. We are grateful for all that you do and look forward to continuing this important work together.
If you are interested in volunteering, keep an eye on the BCTF News and the Postings and Opportunities webpage where vacancies are posted. All members are invited to apply for volunteer positions with the union.
