One, 3-year term, from July 1, 2026, to August 31, 2029
This committee advises the Executive Committee on the needs and concerns of teachers of French as a first and second language. The committee’s recommendations pertain to educational change, professional development, bargaining, BCTF policy and objectives, and other organizational matters as they relate to teachers with French as a first or working language. The committee also organizes an annual meeting with its Francophone partner groups (universities, the ministry, parents, etc.). The working language of this committee is French.
Please note that the composition of this advisory committee attempts to balance representation of members from core French, French immersion and Francophone programs (please see Members' Guide Procedure 25.F.12 - 5). At this time, candidates from Francophone programs are strongly encouraged to apply.
Every year, committee members are expected to attend:
- three 2-day advisory committee meetings, usually scheduled on a Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- fall and spring zone meetings.
- Summer Leadership Conference in August.
- other Federation meetings as required.
This is a volunteer activity where members represent all teachers in BC. Accommodations, meals (per diem), leaves of absence, and necessary travel costs will be provided by the Federation in accordance with BCTF policies.
Deadline: June 18, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
