The Federation Leadership Institute (FLI) is a two-day training opportunity for local officers. This year’s program will take place on November 20–21, 2026, offering a mix of short (90 minute), half-day, and full-day sessions. The program content is role-specific and not introductory. The workshops will focus on key aspects of local leadership, including:
- protecting member rights and upholding the collective agreement
- benefits and legal issues
- communication skills
- health and wellness
- social justice and mentorship
- educational policy
- supporting members with workplace challenges.
Expanding Leadership Opportunities
To broaden participation, the BCTF invites:
- up to 10 additional members who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Colour (BIPOC) to attend FLI.
Who should apply
- BIPOC members who are considering elected leadership positions, regardless of their current participation in such roles.
- Only first-time applicants who have not previously attended are eligible.
We encourage you to apply if you are eager to grow as a leader, deepen your understanding of local leadership, and make meaningful connections with colleagues across the province. All expenses are covered, including LOA, travel, accommodation, and per diems as needed
