This year’s program will take place on November 20–21, 2026, offering a mix of short (90 minute), half-day, and full-day sessions. The program content is role-specific and not introductory. The workshops will focus on key aspects of local leadership, including:

  • protecting member rights and upholding the collective agreement
  • benefits and legal issues
  • communication skills
  • health and wellness
  • social justice and mentorship
  • educational policy
  • supporting members with workplace challenges.

To broaden participation, the BCTF invites:

  • up to 10 additional members who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Colour (BIPOC) to attend FLI.

Who should apply

  • Only first-time applicants who have not previously attended are eligible.

We encourage you to apply if you are eager to grow as a leader, deepen your understanding of local leadership, and make meaningful connections with colleagues across the province. All expenses are covered, including LOA, travel, accommodation, and per diems as needed
