Sign up for the BTCEA Student Workshop Stream: WATER IS LIFE!
Time Slot 1: Friday, April 22nd, 10:15-11:30am PST
Time Slot 2: Friday, April 22nd, 1:15-2:30pm PST

Water is Life is designed to deepen students’ understanding of climate issues,
the importance of water in our lives, and our connections to the world and
community around us. This workshop will foster student knowledge about
climate change, climate justice, and youth leadership, and empower them to
take individual and collective action. At the end of the workshop, students will
be challenged to form their own positive, sustainable water-related habits
(such as avoiding the use of single-use plastics), to help them think critically
about how their daily routines are connected to the environment. This
workshop is best for Grades 8-12.

Wednesday, April 20, 2022, 3:30pm-4:30pm PST

This interactive workshop is focused on ways to empower and engage
students in real-world issues while providing meaning and purpose in a
changing world. Participants will be introduced to an edu-system of
pedagogical approaches and learning resources to deliver transformative,
regenerative education that brings back the joy of teaching. Participants will
also explore BTCEA’s flagship program Student Leadership for Change, a free
library of classroom-tested learning resources that integrate many Indigenous
ways of learning with critical thinking and action-oriented education. You will
leave this workshop with hundreds of ready-to-go free resources, an
understanding of how to use them and the authentic eco-social pedagogies
which they are founded on.
